Chinh’s new friendships
Blog
Rescued bears find friendship in their new chapter of life in sanctuary.
We’re excited to share an update on Chinh, one of the bears rescued from a bear bile farm in Binh Duong province. After recovering from surgery and completing his quarantine, Chinh has been introduced to two other rescued bears: Tin and Tai.
Tin and Tai are two of the nine bears rescued in February 2022 from the same bile farm as Chinh. Both are calm and gentle-natured males who quickly bonded through wrestling and play and have been best friends ever since.
Like Tin and Tai, Chinh also has a calm demeanor, which inspired the idea to introduce the three together. First, they were all housed in adjacent dens so they could see and smell each other. This is an important first step to ensure the bears will get along. After careful monitoring, the decision was made to introduce them on a one-on-one basis to ensure safety, but also to reduce risks of Chinh feeling overwhelmed, as this could potentially escalate into fear aggression.
First, Chinh met Tai. While Tai isn’t typically as playful, the two quickly bonded over wrestling and playing together. Then, Chinh met Tin, and the fun escalated - Chinh’s playful side shone through right away.
The introductions went so smoothly that the trio is now living together, spending their days playing, exploring, wrestling and enjoying each other’s company. π»π»π»
