Chinh the bear takes first steps in his new sanctuary

Chinh’s new lease on life

Blog

Chinh, the bear rescued from a bile farm, has officially finished his quarantine and has begun his new life in the sanctuary.

Life here is full of outdoor enclosures with rich vegetation and quiet pools to swim in.

Watch the amazing journey from isolation, pain and suffering to his rescue and successful recovery at Ninh Binh bear sanctuary. Watch Chinh feel grass beneath his paws for the very first time, explore, forage and bathe in the pond.

An update from the dedicated team at FOUR PAWS:

See him paw gently at grasses, dig curiously, roam freely, explore tunnels, and forage for food in amongst the lush grasses of his new space. How remarkable the warm sunlight and cool breeze must feel to Chinh, as he embarks on a profound new experience.

The first phase of a new bear’s sanctuary life is full of gradual changes and milestones, enabling them to gain confidence and settle into their new home. This release outside is a testament to the significant care provided by our caretakers and veterinarians, since Chinh’s arrival.

These joyous steps are positive but often very overwhelming for the bears. But we continue working closely with Chinh through this new challenge. Having been kept on a bear farm in Binh Duong province for almost two decades, Chinh has been unable to express the most basic of bear behaviours, until now.

This very happy ending has been made possible thanks to the support of animal lovers like you.

Thank you!
