Honouring women who are leaving a legacy for animals

During Women’s History Month, we celebrate the remarkable women who are shaping a kinder future for animals – one that extends far beyond their lifetime.

Through their compassionate decision to leave a gift in their will to World Animal Protection, these women are ensuring that animals everywhere are protected from cruelty and suffering for generations to come. Their legacies stand as a testament to the power of giving, showing that one act of kindness can create a lasting impact on the world.

This month, we honour their generosity and commitment to a better world for animals by sharing their stories.

Debra: A lifelong love for all animals

Debra has always had a deep love for animals, from her beloved cats to bears, elephants and even those that aren’t traditionally considered ‘cute,’ like snakes and bats. Her compassion stems from personal experiences that shaped her understanding of kindness and empathy.

Knowing firsthand what it feels like to be treated unfairly, she has dedicated herself to ensuring animals receive the care and protection they deserve. Leaving a gift in her will to World Animal Protection is her way of continuing that mission and making a difference for animals far into the future.

Susan: A legacy of trust and impact

For Susan, leaving a gift in her will is a way to make a meaningful and lasting difference for animals. She trusts that her contribution will be put to the best possible use, ensuring that vital work to protect animals continues even after she is gone. As she puts it, “There is so much that still needs to be done.”

Her love for animals, including her dog Rocky, has inspired her to leave behind a legacy of compassion that will benefit animals for years to come.

Maria: Ensuring a future of compassion

Maria’s commitment to animal welfare has been a lifelong journey inspired by the unconditional love of a stray cat. In 2011, she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, but she has not let that stop her from being a fierce advocate for animals. Her passion deepened after experiencing the remarkable story of a tiny stray, who survived against all - their resilience became a symbol of hope and the bond between humans and animals.

Understanding that real change takes long-term dedication, she made the decision to leave a legacy gift to World Animal Protection. Through this act of generosity, she is helping to create a world where animals are free from suffering, and her impact will be felt for generations to come.

We are inspired by these incredible women and their vision for a world where animals are treated with kindness and respect.

Their legacies remind us that we all have the power to create change that lasts beyond our lifetime.
