How to help animals

World Animal Protection is an animal welfare non-profit organization with local reach and global influence. From our Canadian office, we collaborate with other World Animal Protection offices in 12 countries. Together, we work with local communities, the private sector, civil society, and governments across 47 countries.

Every day, billions of animals experience unbearable suffering. At World Animal Protection, we move the world to protect animals because the life of every animal counts.

7 ways to help protect animals:

1. Learn about animals

What is animal welfare, and what’s the difference between animal welfare and animal rights? And how exactly can we assess an animal’s welfare? So many questions, but don’t worry we have the answers! Learn all about the core concepts of animal welfare.

Education

Our educational resources, activities, quizzes, and other materials will develop an understanding of the importance of animals.

2. Take action for animals

From sending a letter to your Member of Parliament (MP) about critical issues like factory farming in Canada to signing a petition to ban the global wildlife trade, or pledging to not support cruel wildlife entertainment, there are so many simple actions you can take to help animals.

Take action

Take action today by signing our petitions and pledging to make animal-friendly choices.

3. Eat more plant-based foods

Not only is factory farming one of the most significant contributors to climate change, but it’s also the largest contributor to animal suffering globally. Of the more than 70 billion animals farmed annually, 50 billion of them spend their lives on factory farms. Did you know there are 20 times more farm animals than people in Canada? This is something we need to drastically change if we’re going to protect animals and the earth.

By consuming fewer low welfare animal-based meats, we can free up resources to move to higher welfare production and improve the lives of billions of farmed animals.
