Who we are
World Animal Protection is the global voice for animal welfare, working to give wild and farm animals a good life. Campaigning for over 70 years, we fight to end needless suffering and put animal sentience and scientific evidence at the heart of our work.
Thanks to our supporters, we have liberated wildlife from cruel exploitation, moved companies to adopt better animal welfare in their supply chains and provided funding to sanctuaries to feed and care for rescued animals.
We work across 47 countries (with offices in 12 of them) and collaborate with governments, the United Nations, global corporations, local communities, coalitions and people to improve the lives of millions of animals.
What we do
Our goal is to end animal cruelty and suffering.
Around the globe, wild animals are treated as commodities and ruthlessly exploited on an industrial scale. By transforming systems that fuel exploitation like the tourism entertainment industry, global commercial wildlife trade and Traditional Asian Medicine industry, we can give wild animals like bears, elephants, tigers and many more the right to a wild life.
Factory farming is the biggest cause of animal cruelty in the world. Through our global food system strategy, we will end factory farming and create a humane, equitable and sustainable food system that puts animal welfare at the heart of it. In addition, our work to protect wild and farm animals will play a vital role in preventing the next pandemic, addressing climate change and stopping the destruction of wild habitats for agricultural use.
How is World Animal Protection funded?
World Animal Protection receives funding from caring individuals, corporations and foundations. We do not receive any government funding.
Can I get a tax receipt for my donation?
Yes! World Animal Protection is a registered charity (#12971 9076 RR0001). Every donation you make of $20.00 or more is eligible for a tax receipt which are issued in accordance with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) guidelines.
